Lions: My Favorite Animal

A group of lions is called pride. Lions are the most social cats; each pride could include up to 40 lions. Each pride includes one or two males (sometimes more) and several females.


Females are usually the ones that hunt for food. They rely on group work to hunt zebras, antelopes, wildebeests, and other animals. Males guard the pride’s territory, a distance that often stretches to about 100 square miles.


Male lions are the ones with manes. The mane is their male pride. Studies have found that lions with longer and darker manes are more feared and respected by other male lions and have higher level of testosterone. Darker manes indicate healthier lions.


Some Fun Facts: A lion’s roar can be heard 5 miles away. Male lions usually weigh over 400 pounds; female normally stay below 300 pounds. Lions in captivity live twice as long as those in the wild (25-30 years in captivity; 15 in the wild). Lions often steal hyenas’ or other animals’ kills. However, a large group of hyenas can sometimes steal a lion’s kill. Each adult lion needs 10-15 pounds of meat every day.

The Royal Wedding, a historic moment in UK's history, was also a historic day for fashion, as Kate Middleton's wedding dress was designed by Alexander McQueen. The wedding itself was a beautiful procession, although both Kate and William looked uncomfortable throughout the ceremony. Elton John, Posh and David Beckham were just a few of the celebrities spotted at the wondrous event. All in all, the event was a great success for the monarchy and the people of Great Britain, giving all of us an excuse to drink and become belligerent. Cheers to William and Kate, on a successful marriage!

Kanye's Air Yeezys 2: Spotted in Paris

Since Kanye West's Coachella performance, where he unveiled the Air Yeezy 2, many of his close friends and companions have surfaced their own pair on the internet. Although the shoe itself is still under wraps, Kanye West was spotted in Paris wearing his new sneakers. They're like Nike with a mix of Dior Homme. Check out the Air Yeezy 2 here.
